Popcorn and a Movie

Our last night in Wisconsin my mom watched a movie and ate popcorn with her 3 kids and 4 grand kids. It was great! Such a special memory for the kids, my siblings, and my mom. Awesome way to end our time there.

Turkey Prep 2012

For the past three years I've asked my students the week before Thanksgiving how to cook a turkey and where do turkeys come from. Again this year I had the pleasure of some terrific answers from a great group of four year olds!

How do you cook a turkey?

Get the turkey from the farm. Then come back home to cook it. Put it in the oven. It cooks for 27 hours. Eat the meat off the turkey. Have ice cream for dessert.

Go to Winn Dixie and get the turkey. Put the turkey in the oven for 40 seconds on Hot! The oven beeps when it’s done. Take the turkey out and eat it with a fork.

The turkey comes from a farm. Ask the farmer if you can have it. Put the turkey on the stove, then in the oven for 9 minutes. The oven should be just a little bit hot, not too much. If it’s way too hot the turkey will burn. Eat the turkey with lettuce and apples.

Get the turkey from Publix it costs $20. Cut it chunks. Put knives in then cook it on the stove. It needs to cook 12 seconds. Eat the turkey with chicken nuggets and French fries.

Get the turkey from the market. Cook it in the oven for 3 minutes in a pan. When the oven beeps it is done. After it is cooked put peppers on it. Then cut it up and eat the meat.

Drive to a farm to get the turkey. Then take it home. Bake the turkey for 4 seconds at 5 degrees. Watch the turkey to tell when it’s done. My brother eats it with bacon. I don’t like bacon. I eat it with sausage. Then we have pumpkin pie for dessert.

Pick up the turkey. Cook the turkey in the oven for 20 minutes. Pull it out when it’s done. Put some dip on the turkey and eat it. Have some pizza with it. Pizza is delicious.

Cover the turkey with salad then put the turkey in the oven for 10 hours on medium. Open the turkey to check if it is done. Put pads on your hands so you don’t get burned. Get a plate and eat it.

Put bread on the turkey. Make the turkey by putting it in the oven for 2 minutes at 2 degrees. Put it on a paper then eat it for dinner. After you take a bath you eat noodles.

Get a turkey from the music store. Cook the turkey on the stove for 2 minutes at 2 degrees. Eat the turkey when it’s done. For dessert have some ice cream.

Buy a turkey from a restaurant. Take it home put chicken wings on it and cook it in the oven for 100 hours on very hot. The turkey is done when the bell rings. Eat it all up then have some M&M’s for dessert.

Buy the turkey from a farm. Cook the turkey in the oven for 20 minutes it could be spicy if you put some pepper on it. When the sound beeps the turkey is done. For dessert you have colorful ice pops.

Get the turkey from the store. Cook the turkey in the oven for a long time. It’s hard to wait. Take it out of the oven and eat it.

Pick up a turkey at a farm. Put some lemons on it then cook the turkey in the oven for 6 hours. Cut it up and eat it with chicken nuggets and lemonade then we have cake for dessert.

Get a turkey from the animal farm. Put the turkey in a pot and cook for 2 days. Wait the pot to bubble up. Pull it out and put tomatoes on it then eat it with pizza and macaroni.

Get a turkey from Publix. Take it home and cook it in the stove for 6 minutes on 1 degree. Put some salt on the turkey when it’s done and eat it.

Turkeys have feathers. Make some dinner. Put the turkey on the stove for 30 minutes. Bring it out and eat it. Eat it with spaghetti. Spaghetti is my favorite.

Turkeys come from a barn. Drive home with it in your car. Put it in the stove for 4 seconds. When the beeper goes off it’s done. Then you eat it.

Make a pancake for the turkey’s body. Put it in the oven for just like cooking chocolate chip cookies. It takes a long time, but you need to keep checking them so they don’t burn.

Go to the store to get the turkey. Make a turkey sandwich and eat it so you can go to school. Get a plate, put down a paper towel, lay out the bread, spread some mayonnaise, put the turkey on, then the other piece of bread and use a knife to cut it in half.

The turkey comes from chickens. Put the turkey in the oven for 20 minutes. When it beeps you can eat it. When you’re done eating it, you can get another and eat that one too. For dessert you can have ice cream.

Get the turkey from Target. Then pay for it. Put sprinkles on the turkey and eat it cold, or in the oven for 40 seconds to make it hot.

Get a turkey from the Dollar Store. Cook the turkey on the grill for 5 hours. The turkey is done when you come home, then you can have sugar for dessert.

The place with the corn maze had lots of turkeys. Get one from there, it’s across the river and the desert to get there it is not in this state. Put some salt on the turkey then put it in the oven for 20 minutes. It beeps when it’s done. I eat it with lettuce, tomatoes, and with some ham and maybe some potato chips.

Pick a turkey up from a barn then put it in a pot. Put the pot on the stove and cook it for 10 minutes. Put some pepper and salt on it when it’s done. Take it out of the pot, cut it, and eat it with vegetables like corn and green beans.

Get a turkey from Target. Put in a pan and put the pan on the stove for 10 minutes. Eat the turkey with pizza and corn. For dessert we have some salad.

Turkey comes from the food store. Put the turkey in the oven for 42 hours. The turkey is done when you hear the beeping sound. Eat it with a fork. For dessert, eat some chocolate ice cream.

Turkey come from the grocery store, like Publix or Costco. Put the turkey in oven for 20 minutes. Then you eat it with chicken or meatballs. For dessert you can have some candy.

Publix sells the turkeys. Put salt, peppers, and pasta on it. Cook it in the oven for 20 minutes. When it’s done cooking, put hot sauce on it. Eat it with pizza and ice cream and lollipops and cake for dessert.

Get a turkey from Walmart. Put salt on the turkey then put it in the oven for 3 minutes really hot. The turkey is done when you hear the beep. Take it out, cut it, and eat it like a sandwich.

Get the turkey from a restaurant then put it in the oven for 10 minutes. The turkey is done when it beeps. Eat the turkey with bacon. For dessert, we have Twinkies.

Get the turkey from Publix. Before you cook the turkey put some peas on it. Put the turkey in the oven for 5 minutes. When it’s done you eat it in a sandwich with mustard and ketchup.

Turkey comes from Target. Pay for it with money. Cook the turkey in the oven for 5 minutes. Eat the turkey meat. For dessert eat some strawberries.

Buy a turkey with money and dollars. Go back home and cut part off. Put it in the oven for 15 times. The turkey is done when the numbers come up. Eat the turkey with your people. Some foods you eat with it are hamburger, chicken sandwich or macaroni and cheese or some lettuce.

Turkey comes from the grocery store, go to the cashier and pay. At home, put some sauce on the turkey then put it in the oven for 10 hours. The turkey is done when you hear the beep sounds. Take it out of the oven and eat it. Have some blueberry pie for dessert.

Get a turkey from Target. Flip it over and take it back to the store if it doesn’t work. Put the timer on and wait for the beep. Put the turkey outside on the grill, but the bugs could come get it so bring it inside really fast. Flip it again. Then eat it with cut up bananas.

Put the turkey in the fridge. Cook the turkey in the kitchen. Make the turkey hot on the stove to make it hot. (maybe 5 minutes) The turkey is done when it beeps. Eat it on a plate with a fork.

Turkey comes from the super market. Cook it on the stove for 5 hours. The turkey is done when the timer rings. Take it off the stove and eat it.

Enjoy!

Is the sun awake yet?

Dear Joshua,
I'm trying to wait patiently for you to wake up. Today is your birthday and I can't wait to spend it with you!

We are at grandma's house and this year you're having a party. You've never had one before and I'm excited.

You're sleeping so peacefully and it's taking all I have not to wake you up to hear the terrific things you have to say. Just the other day at the store a woman commented on you wonderful vocabulary. You are growing into such a sweet, smart and handsome boy. I love seeing the love you show with your friends and especially with your brother. You are a pretty amazing kid!

I may have some tears today. 2 didn't seem so bad, but 3 seems old. You're such a big boy. My tears are sad you're growing so quickly, but I couldn't be prouder.

I love you! Happy birthday!

"I was very brave..."

Oh Joshua, you were so brave! You had more courage than mommy.

Monday morning, I ran back up to the house to get my computer and Ms Nottling buckled you in your seat. Before I was back down the door shut.

The car was running and the doors were locked and you were buckled I your seat. *deep breath*

Mommy did her very best to stay level-headed for herself, for Ms Nottling, but mainly for you.

I ran upstairs to get daddy who tried to get the door open with a coat hanger. It didn't work.

The tow truck came to set you free. Daddy did his best to entertain you and make you laugh since near the end you were getting scared. I stayed upstairs with Silas for my sanity and yours.

You asked what happened when you were free and when we got to school you reported to your teacher, "I was locked in the car, but I was very brave."

After 45 minutes locked in a car running and heat blasting you were a sweating, and nervous, but like you said, you were very brave and mommy and daddy were so proud.

Just another story I hope you won't hold against us. Love you! Thanks for your example of bravery.

Election Day

I can admit that my son was probably more patriotic today than I was.

I will admit I did not fulfill my civic duty. I did not vote.

But Joshua did, and I got to see his ballot. A little silly, but it was fun.
