SmART CAMP

SmART Camp: Explore the elements and principles of art by looking at diverse pieces to create similar artwork with a variety of methods and mediums.
I ran SmART camp the first week of summer. It was a wonderful opportunity. I loved it!
I chose artists to study and projects based on the artist. I started with a warm-up activity, followed by focus on the elements of art, and ended with an "I'm done" project. Here are some of the projects we did:
Piet Mondrain: primary color use
Piet Mondrain: monochromatic work

M.C. Escher: Op art
Kandinsky: oil pastel circles resist watercolor
Kandinsky: circles, color change, balance

Picasso: faces

Gustav Klimt: chalk on black paper
Jackson Pollock: splatter paint

Monsters!!

We've watched Monsters Inc a few times in anticipation of the new movie.

Joshua is a sensitive and kind hearted little boys. He has come to me with tears in his eyes when Mike and Sully argue. "They're not friends anymore! That's so sad!"

I was nervous about taking him to see the new one, but it will be a fun memory for us.

We didn't tell him we were going. We got our tickets, 3D glasses, popcorn, lemonade, m&ms, then found our bendy chairs.

It was a cute movie.

How special that on a random Monday night we got someone to watch Silas and both Michael and I took Joshua to so something special.

After all that we capped it off with ice cream. It was the cherry on top!

Go Tell it on the Mountain!

A record breaking year this year for VBS. we had roughly 230ish kids at school. It was Joshua's first year!
Megaphones to tell about Jesus.
God's love in our hearts.
Singing with all the kids.

How awesome to listen to him sing with such joy in his heart to share the message of his Savior!

Pool Play

Picture Post of my boys in the pool. I love backyards! I loved using a pool. I love the sun. I love the weekend.

Kisses

Lots of curiosity about kisses lately.
"How do frogs kiss?"
"How do elephants kiss?"
"How do dolphins kiss?"
How does Joshua kiss?

Father's Day

We went to a bbq place on the intercoastals for lunch. Silas was cutting a molar, so he was a BEAR! For dinner, we did some grilling.

I scream, you scream, we all scream

for ice cream.

I ice cream cones and handed them out to everyone but Silas. My mom was going to share hers with Silas... until he claimed it for himself.

look at those eyes!
delicious!

Crashing Waves

My family was here, therefore: beach trip!

The waves were way too big! I was intimidated, but there's something about my mom being at the beach that makes Joshua brave. He wanted to be in the water.

I felt bad for Samuel who is a state qualifying swimmer, but he too was intimidated by the water and barely went in.

I on the other hand, went it.

Silas Swims

Joshua had swimming lessons at the local pool. He was one, if not the oldest, kid in his class. There were children younger than Silas in the class. But it was beneficial. He gained confidence in the water.

When my mom was visiting we went to the pool with her.

Silas loved the water and we've considered getting him into a class as well!

Sprinkler!!!

Having a front yard has been wonderful! We thought about getting a fancy, kid-friendly sprinkler. Joshua loves the old-school arching sprinkler. He loves it and having Uncle Sam here to run through the sprinkler with him was great!

Cake!!!

Happy Birthday Cake!!

One Year

Where does the time go?
My baby is a year old! One year. It went too fast. I'm happy I wrote about so much of it so that I could spend the morning of his birthday reading about all the fun, silly, handsome things that makes him so special to me.

Landscaping

What a project it turned out to be. I did some pulling, tugging, and yanking to clear out our bushes, and plant some flowers. It made me think of being little and helping my mom plant things around the yard or in the garden. I set the flowers out like my grandma used to when I was a little girl

Ahh

I love you Mom!
It was great to have my mom back here in Florida. It feels right when she's here. Always too short! We did some grilling, went to the beach, she helped settle some things around the house.
